It is with great pleasure that we announce the annual Placentia Community Foundation (PCF) summit focusing on volunteerism and community involvement. This event has been organized by the directors of the PCF to bring together all non-profit leaders from the Placentia community. The event will be held on Monday, July 18, 2016 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Whitten Community Center (900 S. Melrose St.) in Placentia.
The PCF board is excited to feature guest speaker Marilyn Anderson to share information about the very successful Love Placentia Day event and community involvement. We are also pleased that the PCF will present information on grant opportunities that will be available to community groups including the grant application process, eligible programs and events, and the timeline for awarding grants to successful applicants.

Love Placentia Service Day will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016. The event will kick off with a rally at El Dorado High School at 8:00 a.m. From El Dorado, participants will depart to different service projects throughout the City benefiting the needs of the less fortunate, elderly, veterans, schools, and city parks and facilities. Volunteer opportunities are now available for individuals and groups to sign up on the Love Placentia website, www.loveplacentia.com
The Placentia Community Foundation will participate in the second annual I Heart OC Giving Day hosted by the Orange County Community Foundation. The event will take place from 6:00am April 27, 2016 through 12:00pm April 28, 2016. This 30 hour online giving day is an opportunity to donate to any participating non-profit organization. All donations are secure and tax deductible and will be accepted only on www.iheartoc.org. The goal of this event is to inspire the community to come together and give to local non-profits to support the great work that they do. The Placentia Community Foundation is eager about participating in this year’s event and hope to advertise how valuable non-profit work is for our community. The Placentia Community Foundation offers grants to other non-profits every year to help support their causes. These donations will help continue the work of the Placentia Community Foundation. The Placentia Chamber of Commerce and the Placentia Community Foundation presents the 2nd Annual Taste of the Town. The Taste will include various vendors serving a variety of different food and beverages to attendees. Admission will include unlimited tastes for $20 per wrist band, with children 5 and under are free.
The Taste of the Town will be presented as part of the free Summer Concerts in the Park series at Tri-City Park. The concert will feature former Placentia resident BJ Smith, with free admission.

On Monday, June 1st from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., the Placentia Community Foundation (PCF) will be hosting a Community Summit at the Placentia Library Meeting Room, 411 E. Chapman Avenue. The event will feature a keynote speaker from the Orange County Community Foundation. They will discuss the I Heart OC Campaign and demonstrate how effective communication, fundraising and shared network resources are important for a successful community organization. In addition, the PCF will kick-off the 2015 grant cycle. Placentia community organizations are encouraged to attend and receive information on how to apply for grants up to $5,000. The Placentia Community Foundation will host an opportunity drawing on October 12, 2013 at the 49th Annual Heritage Festival. Winner will be able to choose their own ultimate getaway from the three vacation packages.
The Board of Directors announced during their June 5, 2013 Community Summit that grant applications are being accepted for programs, projects, and events that serve Placentia.
The Placentia Community Foundation Regular Meeting scheduled for Monday, May 20, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Meeting Room was cancelled due to a lack of quorum. The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Placentia Community Foundation will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, June 24, 2013 in the Community Meeting Room Placentia City Hall.

In this effort, the Placentia Foundation has received funding from both Placentia Disposal Inc. and the Southern California Gas Company to offer grants to organizations that serve the community of Placentia and focus on the cultural, recreational or educational needs of the community. This year’s event will focus on Grantsmanship - the writing of grant applications - and is being organized by the directors of the PCF to bring together the leaders of all organizations from throughout the Placentia community.
The PCF board is excited to have Carol Geisbauer, a noted grant-writing expert, as a featured guest speaker for the meeting. She will present “Tips for Effective Grant-Writing,” and will share information and resources that she has acquired during a successful 20-year career as a non-profit grant writer and as a leader for various non-profit organizations in Southern California. The PCF will also present information on the PCF’s grant opportunities that will be available to community groups, including the grant application process, eligible programs and events, and the timeline for awarding grants to successful applicants.

The Placentia Community Foundation helped support providing Thanksgiving Turkeys to low-income families and helped provide toys to children in low-income areas of the Community this past holiday season.
The Placentia Community Foundation hosted a Non-Profit Summit that was held on Thursday, June 2 at the Yorba Linda Water District Headquarters. The summit was well attended with over forty (40) community members representing many local non-profit agencies that provide services in the City of Placentia. The summit provided an opportunity for non-profit and community agencies to find out more information about the Foundation and gather resources to support their non-profit and included presentations from Mayor Scott Nelson and Dan McQuaid CEO of OneOC.
The Placentia Community Foundation solicits, receives, invests and makes grants of funds, property and other resources to provide direct charitable services to aid, sponsor, promote, advance and assist worthy activities, programs and services in the City of Placentia to further cultural, recreational, social, historical, and civic events and causes.
